El Greco

El Greco, also known as Domenikos  Theotokopoulos, was a painter, sculptor and architect of Spain Renaissance. El Greco was born in Crete, but he spent most of his life in Spain. He was strongly influenced by Tiziano  and  Tintoretto, both masters of the Renaissance. Afterwards he moved to Rome, where Rafael and Michelangelo inspired his early works. Living in Spain, El Greco created many portraits of aristocrats, which made him famous. In 1586 El Greco painted one of his greatest masterpieces, The Burial of Count Orgaz, for the Church of Santo Tom in Toledo. Than he created The Disrobing of Christ, View of Toledo. El Greco didn't have sequences of contemporaries, also as many geniuses,he became admitted after his death. But he developed his individual style. So nowadays he is recognized as one of the world's great artists.
